O Sole Mio NY is a straightforward Italian pizza spot tucked into a busy strip mall on Nesconset Highway in Stony Brook. The feel is casual and lively, especially around lunch and dinner hours when the place tends to fill up with locals looking for solid Italian comfort food without pretense. Expect a bustling dining room where the chatter and clatter of dishes reflect a neighborhood favorite rather than an upscale dining experience.

The menu leans heavily into classic Italian-American pizzas and pasta dishes, with a few seafood options that stand out, like the broiled flounder and shrimp scampi. Among the pizza selections, the “Grandpa” square slice and the “Grandma” slice offer different takes on thin, crisp crusts that hit that perfect combo of crunchy with a fresh, well-balanced topping layer. There’s also a variety of sides like garlic knots and baked clams that help round out a meal.

Service here moves quickly despite the rush, showing a rhythm that fits a place used to busy peak times. Staffers tend to be friendly and efficient, which helps keep things running smoothly when it gets crowded. The atmosphere is straightforward Italian-American casual—there’s a buzz that’s lively but not overly noisy, though the choice of background music sometimes leans away from the usual Italian staples and might be a bit louder than some expect.

This spot suits anyone after a no-frills, hearty meal—whether grabbing a slice at lunch or settling in for a full dinner. Families, local workers, and longtime customers seem to appreciate the generous portions and classic flavors. Those who prioritize authenticity and atmosphere might miss a bit of that old-world charm, but if you’re after solid pizza and classic dishes with quick service in a familiar, neighborhood setting, this is a reliable choice on the North Shore.

Busy Italian restaurant featuring a Wide variety of Pizza, pasta, and a wide variety of classic Italian dishes Food was fresh, hot, attractively presented, and the portions were generous. What most impressed me about this place was the service. Coming from the world of fine dining, I pay more attention to service mechanics than most. The restaurant was full and I didn’t have a reservation, however was seated after a short wait. Service was prompt, cordial, interactive, knowledgeable, and well timed. I was especially impressed by the bus staff. Tables were cleared, sanitized, seats were wiped down, floor underneath the table swept, and the tables were reset typically before the departing customers exited. I’ll be back.

Have been coming here for over 20 years. One of the best Italian restaurants and pizza places in the area. The atmosphere, service, and staff are great. Love the food dishes equally as much as the pizza. Highly recommend!

Neighborhood pizzeria’s are my jam. This one is in a strip mall but was busy for lunch so it must be good. The grandpa square was lovely. The thin square also had a crunch to hit that was hard not to like. They have all sorts of specialty sliced as well. The dining room was busy for lunch which is a good sign. I would for sure come back for a slice.

It's a really busy place. The service was fast and friendly. The pizza was good. The utensils and napkins were cheap. For the volume and pricing, they can afford to take up the quality a notch. The music was a bit loud and not Italian. Not that it has to be but most Italian restaurants either play Italian music or classical opera. If you need a slice of $4.25 pizza this is your spot.

Great pizza and good service even as we came in late and near closing. Pizzas came out quickly once ordered.

Excellent food and service! The food was amazing. The salad, pizza and the pasta were all delicious. The portion size runs generally large. I highly recommend this place for a small family or friends gathering. This is a cozy area. The area might be tight to mobile.
